PETALING JAYA: National women doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah are looking good to reach another final for the second consecutive week after storming into the French Open semi-finals.
The duo defeated Gabriela Stoeva-Stefani Stoeva of Bulgaria 21-12, 21-15 in a 39-minute quarter-final match at the Grand Arena Paris on Friday (Oct 24).
They will face Rin Iwanaga-Kie Nakanishi of Japan in the semi-finals. Pearly-Thinaah have a good record against the Japanese pair, having won eight of their 10 meetings.
Pearly is hoping to maintain the momentum alongside Thinaah.
"We were patient at the start but a bit rushed at the end, but still happy to win," said Pearly.
Pearly-Thinaah lifted the Denmark Open title last week.
"We have done well in these two tournaments after returning from my injury, and I'm happy with that as well. We are playing with confidence and enjoying our game."
Recovery though will be key for Pearly, who appeared to be experiencing some back discomfort but continued playing during the quarter-finals.
The other semi-final will feature top seeds Yuki Fukushima-Mayu Matsutomo of Japan and Indonesians Rachel Allessya-Febi Setianingrum.
