Sze Fei-Izzuddin fall short in Japan Open semis

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin's hopes of reaching the Japan Open final were dashed by South Korea's Seo Seung-jae-Kim Won-ho on Saturday (July 18).

The semi-final clash at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium was a repeat of the 2025 Japan Open final.

After losing the opening game, Sze Fei-Izzuddin fought back strongly in the second to force a decider but were unable to contain the defending champions and went down 12-21, 21-11, 13-21 in 58 minutes.

Their defeat also brought Malaysia's challenge at this year's Japan Open to an end.
