Sze Fei-Izzuddin end nine-year wait for Malaysian Masters final

PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani ended their nine-year wait to return to the Malaysian Masters final after upsetting top seeds Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik on Saturday (May 23).

The semi-final clash at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil saw Sze Fei-Izzuddin put in an impressive performance to seal a 21-18, 21-12 win in just 33 minutes.

The last time they reached the Malaysian Masters final was in the 2017 edition in Sibu, Sarawak, where they finished runners-up after losing to Indonesia’s Berry Angriawan-Hardianto.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin will now await the winners of the other semi-final between fellow Malaysians Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King and Denmark’s Daniel Lundgaard-Mads Vestergaard to determine Sunday’s (May 24) final draw.
