PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttlers Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani stormed their way into the Malaysian Masters semi-final after taking down Japan’s Kakeru Kumagai-Hiroki Nishi on Friday (May 22).

Third seed Sze Fei-Izzuddin were forced to go the distance but came out on top to win 21-17, 16-21, 21-16 in 53 minutes against the eighth seed Japanese pair at the Unifi Arena in Bukit Jalil. It was the first time the pairs met on court.

The world No. 9 Malaysians are now one step away from equalling their best result at the Malaysian Masters, having reached the final at the 2017 edition during their debut year as a senior pair.

Sze Fei-Izzuddin will next face either compatriots and top seeds Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik or China’s Hu Keyuan-Lin Xiangyi in the semis.
