PETALING JAYA: Malaysia will rest captain M. Thinaah against China in the Uber Cup quarter-finals on Thursday (April 30) in Horsens, Denmark.
Instead, Malaysia have reunited Ong Xin Yee with her original partner Carmen Ting, and the pair will take on world No. 1 duo Liu Shengshu-Tan Ning when the tie begins at 4pm (Malaysian time).
Singles player K. Letshanaa will open the tie against world No. 2 Wang Zhiyi.
It will be a repeat of the 2020 edition in Aarhus, Denmark, where Letshanaa lost to Zhiyi.
Wong Ling Ching will face world No. 4 Chen Yufei in second singles.
The in-form pair of Low Zi Yu-Noraqilah Maisarah Ramdan are scheduled to face Jia Yifan-Zhang Shuxian if the tie goes the distance.
As expected, Goh Jin Wei returns to the line-up as the third singles and will meet world No. 5 Han Yue.
National doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky admitted the tie would be a tough one, but urged his players to go all out in search of points.
“Our players must take this opportunity, go all out and play with nothing to lose. China are the favourites, but we must show strong fighting spirit,” said Rexy.
Malaysia have yet to reach the Uber Cup semi-finals, while China are chasing their 17th title.
