A timely lift - Tat Meng grateful as Yogendran checks in before Australian Open

Thank you: Wong Tat Meng appreciates visit by national singles coach Yogendran and wife in Sydney.

PETALING JAYA: Former Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) coach Wong Tat Meng was deeply touched when national men's singles coach K. Yogendran and his wife, Sugita, dropped by to visit him in a hospital in Sydney.

Yogendran, who is in town for the Australian Open starting on Tuesday (Nov 18), visited Tat Meng on Monday (Nov 17).

Tat Meng is still recovering after a serious motorcycle accident in September.

"Yogendran, Sugita, thanks for visiting and giving me lots of courage, really appreciate it," said Tat Meng via social media.

"Wish you guys enjoy a great week at Sydney Olympic Park. All the best to all Malaysian participants. Good luck."

At the Australian meet, Yogendran will be hoping for positive performances from shuttlers Leong Jun Hao, Justin Hoh and Eogene Ewe.

Jun Hao has been drawn against fellow Malaysian Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin in the first round while Justin will face India's rising star Ayush Shetty.

Eogene and independent player Lim Ming Hong will start in the qualifying rounds.
