Man-Tee, Sze Fei-Izzuddin exit in second round after losing to Taiwanese pairs

PETALING JAYA: Men's doubles shuttlers Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun crashed out of the Hong Kong Open after a shock defeat to Taiwan's world No. 14 pair Lee Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan in the second round.

There were high hopes for Wei Chong and Kai Wun, but the duo could not raise their game and lost 17-21, 21-11, 15-21 at the Hong Kong Coliseum in Kowloon on Thursday (Sept 11).

It was the world No. 6 pair's second defeat to Jhe-huei and Po-hsuan in four meetings.

Independent pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani also endured a disappointing campaign after going down 21-14, 16-21, 13-21 to Taiwan's Lee Fang-chih-Lee Fang-jen.

The world No. 3 pair have struggled for form lately and suffered early round exits in their last two outings as well in the China Open and World Championships.
