Quarter-final woes for Malaysia as Aaron-Wooi Yik fall to Chinese pair, Tang Jie–Ee Wei retire injured

PETALING JAYA: Former world champions Aaron Chia–Soh Wooi Yik were unable to deliver a win for Malaysia after bowing out in the Singapore Open quarter-finals on Friday (May 29).

The world No. 2 pair lost 15-21, 15-21 to China’s world No. 5 duo Liang Weikeng–Wang Chang at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

It was the Malaysians’ 11th defeat in 14 meetings against the Chinese pair.

Meanwhile, mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie–Toh Ee Wei were forced to retire after Ee Wei suffered a knee injury while leading 18-16 in the opening game against India’s Dhruv Kapila–Tanisha Crasto.
