Pearly-Thinaah to face S. Korea's Na-eun, Yeon-woo in Thai Open final

PETALING JAYA: Women's doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah have set up a showdown against South Korea's Jeong Na-eun-Lee Yeon-woo in the Thailand Open final.

Top seeds Pearly-Thinaah continued their good run by beating Japan's Rui Hirokami-Sayaka Hobara 21-18, 21-12 in the semi-finals at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok on Saturday (May 17) to reach their seventh World Tour Super 500 final.

This is the world No. 4 pair's second final this year after finishing runners-up to Korea's Kim Hye-jeong-Kong Hee-yong in the Indonesian Masters in January.

Pearly-Thinaah will face Na-eun-Yeon-woo in the title match on Sunday (May 18).

The Malaysian pair defeated the Koreans in their only previous meeting at the Orleans Masters second round in March.

Pearly-Thinaah have only won once out of their past six World Tour Super 500 finals when they captured the Hong Kong Open title last September.

The duo's biggest title in their careers so far was the Super 750 French Open in 2022.
