It all seemed perfect for Tang Jie-Ee Wei when they sealed the opening game with a well-played 21-18 win. However, they lost the plot in the second at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta.

Despite a determined comeback attempt after trailing significantly, the Malaysian top seeds went down 20-22 to Dechapol-Supissara,

The third game was closely contested but a few unforced errors led to Tang Jie and Ee Wei succumbing to a narrow 18-21 defeat.
