Aaron-Kang go down fighting to Indian pair

PETALING JAYA: Men’s doubles shuttlers Aaron Tai-Kang Khai Xing missed out on their first World Tour semi-final after going down fighting to India’s Ishaan Bhatnagar-Sankar Prasad in the Syed Modi International.

Aaron-Khai Xing, who captured gold in the World Junior Championships in October, gave a good account of themselves, especially in the second game, before narrowly losing 12-21, 29-30 to the homesters in Lucknow yesterday.

The defeat ended the youngsters’ hopes of reaching the last four stage in a World Tour competition for the first time. Malaysia’s challenge came to an end after independent pair Wong Tien Ci-Lim Chiew Sien also went down 21-12, 11-21, 16-21 to India’s Roy Pruthvi-K. Sai Pratheek.

Earlier, Tien Ci-Chiew Sien lost 14-21, 24-22, 16-21 to China’s Liao Pinyi-Huang Kexin in the mixed doubles.
