PETALING JAYA: Veteran men’s doubles pair Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong showed they still have plenty left in the tank after booking a place in the China Masters semi-finals on Friday (Sept 4).
Azriyn-Wee Kiong produced a spirited display at the Shenzhen Arena to overcome Indonesia’s sixth seeds Sabar Karyaman-Reza Pahlevi 21-17, 16-21, 21-19 in 58 minutes.
The victory was a significant one for the Malaysians as it marked their first semi-final appearance in two years, since the Japan Masters in 2024.
Azriyn-Wee Kiong will face India’s world No. 5 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty on Saturday (Sept 5) for a place in the final.
