PETALING JAYA: Malaysia's hopes of an all-Malaysian mixed doubles final at the China Masters were dashed after Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie went down to world No. 1 Feng Yanzhe-Huang Dongping on Saturday (Sept 5).
Soon Huat-Shevon tried to put up a fight in their semi-final clash at the Shenzhen Arena but the home favourites proved too strong as the Malaysians went down 11-21, 22-24.
Despite the defeat, reaching the semi-finals was still a positive outing for Soon Huat-Shevon as it marked their first appearance in the last four since the India Open in January 2025.
Yanzhe-Dongping will now face another Malaysian pair, Hoo Pang Ron-Lai Pei Jing, in the final.
Pang Ron-Pei Jing earlier pulled off an upset by sweeping aside China's world No. 28 Zhu Yijun-Li Qian 21-12, 21-10 in the other semi-final.
It will be Pang Ron-Pei Jing's first final since they began their partnership in May.
