Aaron-Wooi Yik, Pearly Thinaah bow out of China Masters

PETALING JAYA: Doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah bowed out of the China Masters after losing their respective quarter-final matches against home pairs.

In the men's doubles, Aaron-Wooi Yik went down fighting 23-25, 21-17, 12-21 to world No. 6 He Jiting-Ren Xiangyu in an exhausting 73-minute match at the Shenzhen Gymnasium on Friday (Nov 22).

It was the world No. 5 pair's second defeat in three meetings against Jiting-Xiangyu.

Women's doubles pair Pearly-Thinaah then lost out 16-21, 17-21 to world No. 1 Liu Shengshu-Tan Ning.

Meanwhile, another men's doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani also crashed out after narrowly going down 21-18, 19-21, 21-23 in to Sabar Gutama-Moh Reza of Indonesia.
