PETALING JAYA: Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik have turned the tables on reigning Olympic badminton men's doubles champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi-lin to march into the Indonesian Masters semi-finals in Bali.
The national No. 1 pair stunned the Taiwanese duo 21-13, 21-15 in just 31 minutes in the quarter-finals.
Aaron-Wooi Yik are still seeking their first title despite making the Olympic podium in their debut in Tokyo and now have a chance to do so having hit form at the right time.
Aaron-Wooi Yik have lost to the Taiwanese pair in three previous meetings.
The world ranked No. 7 pair will face Japan's Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi for a place in the final.
The Japanese duo overcame Danes Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 19-21, 21-14, 21-19.
There was also double joy for Malaysia with Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi beating fellow Malaysians Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin 21-13, 18-21, 21-18 in another quarter-final clash earlier.
Yew Sin-Ee Yi will take on Indonesia's Marcus Fernaldi Gideon-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo in the other semi-final battle.
Marcus-Kevin overcame fellow Indonesians Pramudya Kusumawardana-Yeremia Erich Yoche 22-20, 21-17.
