Fairuzizuan: We're not going to China to make up the numbers

Mohd Fairuzizuan and his partner Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif won bronze at the 2009 World Championships in Hyderabad, India.

KUALA LUMPUR: Independent doubles shuttler Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari is delighted that he had defied the odds to make the cut for the World Championships with partner Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif even after leaving the national team for almost two years.

The slightly overweight Fairuzizuan-Zakry will join three other pairs Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong and Goh V Shem-Lim Khim Wah — all from the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) — for the world meet in Guangzhou, China from Aug 5-11.
