National sprinter Mohd Azeem clinches gold medal in NCAA Championships


PETALING JAYA: National sprinter Mohd Azeem Fahmi has led Auburn University to clinch the NCAA Championships gold medal in the men’s 4x100m in Oregon on Friday (June 7).

Crowned national champions, Azeem and teammates Kansyola Ajayi, Makanakishe Charamba, and Dario Matau sprinted through with a time of 38.03s, their season’s best.

Louisiana State University (LSU) came in second with 38.21s, while Houston took bronze with their time of 38.25.

Auburn’s time is also the third fastest in collegiate athletics history, only behind LSU (37.90) and Florida (37.93s), both of which were set last year.
