SERDANG: Johor sprinter Danish Iftikhar Mohd Roslee has smashed the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 200m record en route to winning the final at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Stadium here on Tuesday (Aug 18).

The 19-year-old national athlete clocked 20.85s to better Selangor Mohd Aqil Yasmin’s time of 21.01s, set at the 2018 edition.

Kedah’s Mohd Umaira Subri took silver with a time of 21.23s, while Danish’s teammate Mohd Airiel Iskandar won the bronze with 21.35s.

Danish is the reigning 200m national record holder with a time of 20.73s, which he set at the SEA Games in Bangkok last year.

It's his second individual gold, having won the 100m final on the opening day of athletics competition.

In the women’s 200m final, Terengganu’s Izzatul Musfirah Kamal Azira captured the gold with a time of 24.42s.

Selangor's Lim Mei Yun was second with a time of 24.86s, and another Terengganu athlete Nor Aliya Najihah completed the podium with a time of 25.39s.
