SERDANG: Johor javelin thrower Chai Kai Le has broken the Malaysia Games (Sukma) record for his event at the Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Stadium here on Monday (Aug 17).
The 18-year-old’s best attempt was 64.44m in the final, rewriting the previous record set by Sarawak’s Kho Mei Kuan (62.33m) in the 2000 edition.
Penang’s Tan Chun Wei took silver with a throw of 60.43m, while Kai Le’s teammate Mohd Noor Iman took bronze with a throw of 59.96m.
