Olympic diver Quan makes a winning comeback

DESPITE having struggled with body size and physical development, three-time Olympic diving champion Quan Hongchan helped the Guangdong women’s diving team defend their gold medal at the 15th China National Games last Sunday.

China Press reported that Quan, 18, appeared to have grown over the past year since her sensational 2024 Paris Olympics win, which saw her chalking up a perfect score in her opening dive in the women’s 10m platform final.

Quan paired with Wang Weiying to beat her former national teammate Chen Yuxi and Zhang Minjie from Shanghai, winning the 10m synchronised platform event, which contributed to the overall team event win in the National Games.

This was Quan’s comeback after skipping domestic and international competitions for 183 days due to injuries.

Netizens praised Quan for her ability to again deliver her trademark, nearly splash-free dives.

> Sin Chew Daily reported that a hairstylist in China, who became a social media sensation last year for her skills and rapport with customers, has returned to her normal work routine.

At the height of Li Xiaohua’s popularity, her shop in Huaihua city, Hunan province, was visited by overe 300,000 people, which helped to generate domestic spending of 180 million yuan.

“We used to work until 2am, but now we finish early and can rest. We have seven employees now and still distribute 300 numbered tickets to customers when we’re very busy,” she said.
