A WOMAN has taken to social media to complain about a man who appeared to expect her to give up her MRT seat so his wife could sit, despite him having taken a seat himself.
Oriental Daily reported that the woman, Clara, 31, was travelling on the train on Sept 11 in Singapore when a couple and their four-year-old daughter boarded.
The father and daughter took two seats, while the mother, who was carrying several bags, remained standing.
When the girl asked for her mother to sit down, the father reportedly told her that her mother had no seat because an “auntie” was occupying it.
Clara then told the man that if he wanted his wife to have a seat, he should give up his own.
He eventually stood up and let his wife sit down.
> The daily also reported that a century-old mooncake brand has come under scrutiny after customers reportedly found mould on products bought ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong.
Some customers discovered mould after opening the mooncake tins, while one found mould on the bottom of a mooncake that appeared normal on the surface.
One customer said she lodged a complaint with Hong Kong’s Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.
The manufacturer said it had recorded the cases, offered affected customers refunds or replacements and started an internal quality check of the relevant batches. It said no widespread problem had been reported so far.
> Guang Ming Daily reported that three Chinese women who travelled to Pattaya in Thailand for “companion” jobs were allegedly held captive, sexually assaulted and extorted by four Chinese men.
The women, aged 23, 32 and 36, were allegedly taken to a villa where their phones were confiscated and they were held against their will.
One woman reportedly managed to send a distress message and the villa’s location to a friend, prompting Thai authorities to raid the premises and rescue the women.
