Can we do more about these types of bad road users?

WITH the increasing number of accidents on the roads due to reckless drivers and motorcyclists, it’s about time that the authorities take more stringent actions against such culprits.

For instance, zebra crossings don’t seem to register with some drivers and riders. I notice that they don’t slow down or stop to allow pedestrians to cross. More often than not, there are numerous near misses and the pedestrians almost become zebras run over.

Are these drivers and riders ignorant of the requirement to stop and allow pedestrians to cross at zebra crossings? Is this no longer taught at driving schools?

Another annoying issue are the motorcyclists using the Federal Highway when there are dedicated motorbike lanes for them off the highway. We drivers have to keep vigilant watch as these reckless riders weave in and out of traffic dangerously.

And the highways and roads are full of bullying drivers who tailgate and flash their lights as if the roads belong to their grandfathers!

Where are the police and Road Transport Department (JPJ) officers when we need them? We need more unscheduled roadblocks so these sorts of culprits can be hauled off to court.

Is there a hotline number or e-mail address where we can lodge complaints with the relevant evidence that can be used to charge these bad road users?
