I WOULD like to raise a public safety concern regarding the easy availability of high-powered laser pointers on online shopping platforms in Malaysia. These devices, often marketed as “laser pens”, can easily be purchased at very cheap prices. However, many of them are far more powerful than the pointers commonly used for presentations.
High-powered lasers are capable of causing serious and permanent eye injury if directed into a person’s eyes even for a brief moment.
