I AM writing to publicly acknowledge and commend the outstanding assistance provided by officers of the Malaysian diplomatic service during the recent regional airspace disruptions affecting the Middle East.
Following sudden airspace closures and escalating instability in the region, our scheduled flight from Kuala Lumpur to Doha was diverted to Muscat, Oman.
With onward routes suspended and significant uncertainty surrounding safe passage, my partner (a Canadian citizen) and I were left navigating an increasingly complex travel situation in order to return safely to Britain.
In these difficult circumstances, we received exceptional support from Embassy of Malaysia in Muscat minister counsellor Nur Misuari Harun and his duty officer; Consulate General of Malaysia in Chennai vice consul Mai Sarah Elisa Meor Rosele; and High Commission of Malaysia in New Delhi Head of Chancery second secretary/officer in charge Jefri Harun.
Through swift inter-mission coordination across Muscat, and Chennai and New Delhi in India, they facilitated the urgent processing of Indian e-Transit visas that allowed us safe and uninterrupted onward travel.
Their responsiveness and professionalism ensured that we were not stranded during a period of rapidly evolving regional disruption.
In a time of uncertainty, their calm guidance and efficiency reflected the very best of Malaysia’s diplomatic service.
Public servants often work behind the scenes, and it is only in moments of crisis that the full value of their dedication becomes visible.
My partner and I are deeply grateful for their assistance and believe their efforts deserve public recognition.
