Making festive road trips less exhausting

EVERY Chinese New Year, there is a familiar ritual before the celebration even begins. Group chats fill with traffic screenshots. Friends send warnings. Someone inevitably says, “Good luck on the highway.”

Traffic congestion has become so normal that many of us accept it as part of the celebration itself, much like long queues and packed houses. We complain about it, joke about it and brace ourselves in advance.
