Safety training programme warrants closer scrutiny


THE recent announcement by Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan regarding the “Safety Induction for Tourism Industry” (Siti) programme, providing free safety and health induction training to 10,000 workers in the tourism sector ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026, is a breath of fresh air.

Targeting tour operators and accommodation providers as the “front runners” of this initiative is the right starting point since these individuals are often in a position to intervene before a risk becomes a tragedy.
