Should Malaysia join this growing global trend?

JUST after reading Joanne Tan Mei Suan’s letter, “Banning is not the solution” (The Star, Nov 8; online at bit.ly/3JQQ63K), I read breaking news that Denmark planned to introduce a social media ban for children under the age of 15.

Prime Minister Mette Frederik-sen did not specify which social media networks would fall under the ban, nor how it would work in practice as she announced the initiative in a speech to Den-mark’s Parliament at the opening of its autumn session (“Denmark to ban social media for under-15s”, The Star, Nov 8; online at bit.ly/4nJBoJK). If Frederiksen follows through with the plan, her country will not be the first to stop younger teens from accessing social media.
