Raising retirement age increases industrial and traffic accidents


IN Malaysia, the retirement age for civil servants and private sector employees has been adjusted several times.

In 1951 the mandatory retirement age was set at 55 years. Then in 2001, it was raised to 56 years. In 2008 it was raised to 58 years and the latest in 2012, it was raised to 60 years. Now there is a suggestion to raise the retirement age to 65 years – a quantum leap.
