Start now to be ready for VMY 2026

WHEN tabling Budget 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also Finance Minister, announced that 2026 would be the next Visit Malaysia Year.

Hoping to net 26 million foreign tourist arrivals and an estimated revenue of RM97.6bil, the government has allocated RM350mil from Budget 2024 to boost tourism promotion activities.

It is crucial for Malaysians and permanent residents to provide moral support and collaborate actively with the government to promote Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026. Local communities can contribute by showcasing their cultural heritage, engaging in eco-friendly initiatives, and providing clean and authentic experiences.

Most tourists choose Malaysia because it offers a blend of modernity and tradition, diverse ecosystems, and a harmonious multicultural society.

Hence, emphasising these aspects in promotional campaigns, coupled with initiatives to ensure a friendly, smooth journey and enjoyable experience for visitors, can make Malaysia a top choice for tourists.

With budget air fares making travel accessible to everyone, the tourism industry will give the country’s GDP a strong boost. It will also enhance Malaysia’s status worldwide.

So, let’s proactively promote our attractions, whether they’re in bustling cities or serene villages across Malaysia. Leverage social media and walking advertisements during trips abroad to effectively showcase the diverse beauty of our country.

The success of VMY 2026 hinges on preparation. Avoid procrastination, and take prompt action to ensure a brilliant outcome.
