Real issue at the heart of Tabung Haji debate

I REFER to the report “Ex-AG: No proof of theft found in TH” (The Star, Aug 26; https://tinyurl.com/mrbd5vfj). The former auditor-general’s statement that no evidence of theft was found may well be correct, but it appears to answer a question that many depositors were never asking in the first place.

The issue at the heart of the Tabung Haji debate is not whether money was stolen. Rather, it is whether Tabung Haji’s financial position was fairly represented and whether those entrusted with safeguarding depositors’ funds were provided with a complete and accurate picture of its financial health.
