Malaysia’s fashion, heritage, culture and tourism sectors take centre stage with the official launch of Selangor Fashion Week International 2026 (6th Edition), held in conjunction with Karnival Kebaya Malaysia 4.0 and in support of Visit Malaysia 2026.
Returning for its sixth edition, the international platform brings together participants from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak, alongside designers, delegates, educational institutions, industry leaders and strategic partners from ASEAN Member States and China.
More than a fashion event, Selangor Fashion Week International has evolved into a multidisciplinary platform connecting fashion, heritage, culture, tourism, education, creative industries and entrepreneurship, creating opportunities for talent development, cultural exchange, industry networking and international collaboration.

The Organising Committee also welcomed Azmi Abdullah, Senior Deputy Director, Package Development Division, Tourism Malaysia, who officiated the Press Conference of Selangor Fashion Week International 2026 (6th Edition) on behalf of the Director General of Tourism Malaysia.

The platform strengthens collaboration among government agencies, academia, industry associations, corporations, designers, entrepreneurs and international partners, creating greater opportunities for education, talent development, entrepreneurship, tourism promotion and cultural exchange.
A major highlight at the launch was the Strategic MOU & MOA Signing Ceremony, witnessed by Encik Azmi Abdullah in his capacity as the official representative of the Director General of Tourism Malaysia.
Strategic Memoranda of Understanding were signed with: UNITAR International University; UCSI University and the Playground Academy
The collaborations will strengthen academia-industry engagement, focusing on education, talent development, research, innovation, internships, entrepreneurship and professional industry exposure.
A Memorandum of Agreement was also signed between Instant Media, organiser of the Malaysia International Textile & Tourism Expo (MITTE) 2026, and Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK) to formalise their strategic collaboration for MITTE 2026. The collaboration expands the ecosystem beyond fashion into textiles, tourism, heritage, culture, education, trade, investment and international business collaboration.

Selangor Fashion Week International 2026 welcomes participants and stakeholders from across Malaysia, Asean and China, including government agencies, tourism organisations, universities, fashion designers, modelling agencies, beauty queens, tourism and cultural ambassadors, textile and handicraft producers, industry associations, SMEs, entrepreneurs, corporate partners, international delegates and media.
By bringing these communities together, the event celebrates Malaysia’s cultural diversity while creating opportunities for tourism promotion, education, cultural exchange, business networking and people-to-people connectivity. The main celebration will take place from 21–23 August 2026 at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
The opening day will feature a Non-Stop International Fashion Showcase from 10am to 10pm, presenting established designers, emerging talents, universities, modelling agencies, cultural fashion groups and international participants.
The runway will celebrate Malaysia’s multicultural identity through Kebaya, Batik, Songket, Tenun, Cheongsam, Saree, contemporary fashion and international collections, alongside participation from ASEAN and China.
The platform will also provide opportunities for students, emerging designers, models and new-generation creative talents to gain exposure, experience and industry connections.
The weekend celebration will feature the Malaysia Kebaya Contest, Heritage Costume Competitions, Fashion, Heritage & Tourism Forum, educational workshops, live demonstrations, textile and cultural exhibitions, cultural performances, business networking and interactive public activities.

At the heart of the initiative is a commitment to preserve Malaysia’s cultural heritage while making it relevant to future generations.
The Kebaya, Batik, Songket, Tenun and Malaysia’s diverse traditional costumes and textiles represent generations of craftsmanship, identity and cultural stories.
By connecting heritage with contemporary fashion, education, tourism and international exposure, the initiative aims to ensure these traditions are celebrated, experienced and carried forward by the next generation.

"Through stronger partnerships among government, academia, industry and the international community, we aim to empower future talents, preserve Malaysia’s multicultural heritage, strengthen the creative economy and bring the Malaysian story to a wider global audience.
"From Malaysia to Asean, China and the world, we are building bridges through fashion, heritage and culture while supporting the aspirations of Visit Malaysia 2026.
"The kebaya, saree and cheongsam is a worldwide phenomenon and it also Malaysia's very own unique treasures. Malaysian women have their own style in this genre, and we hope to bring these treasures in our very own style to the world."
