Promising athletes for nation’s talent pool


THE 63rd edition of the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MSSM) Championships from Oct 15 to 19 at Paroi Stadium, Seremban has ended with Johor, Sabah and Selangor as the top three in the medal tally at 15-9-10; 12-17-15; and 11-20-9, respectively.

Some notable talents at the meet were Johor’s Danish Iftikhar, who won the 100m in the under-18 category with a remarkable time of 10.85 secs; Sabahans Pengiran Aidil Auf Hajam and his teammate Jad Rizalman, who ran their personal best in the 100m at 10.62 secs and 10.76 secs, respectively; and Terengganu’s Izzatul Musfirah Ahmad Kamal Azira, an under-15 athlete who won five gold medals in the 200m hurdles (27.43 secs), 100m (12.33 secs), 200m (24.66 secs), 4x100m, with her team finishing in 50.02 secs, and 4x400m (4:03.55).
