Managing stray animals humanely

THE launching of the Stray-Free Selangor programme by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday is timely and deserves the support of all who love a clean and healthy environment (“Royalty supports Stray-Free Selangor cause”, Sunday Star, Oct 30; online at bit.ly/star_animals).

The SPCA initiative aims to reduce the population of stray cats and dogs in the state through spaying and neutering. Royal involvement has given the organisation a much-needed impetus to forge ahead.
