MANAGING any facility to meet the expectations of stakeholders is not a walk in the park. It requires established, mature operational and management systems, deep knowledge of the real requirements of stakeholders, carefully calculated strategies, informed decisions based on accurate data, and thorough planning of resources within adequate funding to achieve a sense of quality and real value for money.
Today, an estimated RM15bil is spent annually on various facilities and infrastructure in Malaysia within which we all live and work. Despite such a huge amount of money being spent, there seems to be a fundamental flaw in the system that is preventing end-users, the stakeholders, from experiencing satisfaction and a feeling of value when utilising public and private facilities for their day-to-day work and social needs.
