THE East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), which is set to begin commercial operations on Dec 12, gives Malaysians another safe, convenient and affordable way to reach the east coast.

This 665km standard-gauge double-track railway connecting Port Klang in Selangor to Kota Baru in Kelantan also fits the government’s long-term policy of moving Malaysians from private cars to public transport, especially rail. Fewer cars mean less congestion during festive periods, less fuel burnt and a smaller carbon footprint.
