REFERRING to the report “Malaysia heading into an ageing nation, says chief statistician” (The Star, July 15), one common yet often missed dimension among older adults is dementia. A condition that causes a decline in previously attained cognitive level, dementia significantly affects individuals in the performance of their daily activities.
Dementia leads to loss of memory, problem-solving capacity and other thinking abilities that is severe enough to interfere with everyday life.
