Rela should not be allowed to carry firearms

THE folly of providing arms to Rela (People’s Volunteer Corps) has been laid bare by the discovery of the theft and subsequent sale to third parties by irresponsible Rela personnel who have since been arrested (The Star, March 27).

My worry is how many more of such cases have yet to be discovered. Even this discovery was made by a visiting audit team as opposed to a daily or routine check at the store itself. Very worrying indeed.
