Stopping a Malaysian epidemic called diabetes

EPIDEMIC is a scary word. In our minds, we picture people falling sick in increasingly large numbers, often resulting in deaths, as a contagious disease races indiscriminately through the population.

What terrifies us are the rapidity and randomness of infection, and the difficulty in containing the spread of the disease. That kind of fear commands our undivided attention and compels us to change our behaviour.
