ALI (not his real name) is only four years old. A child like him should be learning his ABCs, drawing pictures or playing with toys.

But just weeks ago, Ali was brought to a hospital with unexplained bruising, red eyes and a blood count so dangerously low that doctors knew something was terribly wrong. Tests confirmed he had leukaemia.
