NEW YORK, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Monday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.2 percent to 99.003 at 3 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.1663 dollars from 1.1683 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.3631 dollars from 1.3652 dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 159.19 Japanese yen, higher than 159.02 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar increased to 0.8026 Swiss francs from 0.8008 Swiss francs, and it climbed to 1.3850 Canadian dollars from 1.3761 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar rose to 9.4973 Swedish kronor from 9.4626 Swedish kronor.
