Iran strikes back, targets US military in Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain

TEHRAN: The Iranian military says it launched attacks on four US military sites in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates in retaliation for joint US-Israeli strikes across Iran, reported German Press Agency (dpa).

Targets included Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, Al Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the US naval fleet in Bahrain, according to Iran's Fars News Agency.

The US and Israel began hitting sites across Iran on Saturday, including in the capital Tehran, as the tensions between the countries exploded into open conflict.

A wave of missiles was also launched by Iranian forces towards Israel.

Meanwhile, Qatar said it successfully intercepted a number of attacks on its territory after Iran targeted military bases used by the US in several Middle Eastern countries, reported German Press Agency (dpa).

The Qatari Defence Ministry said the situation was under control and urged the public to remain calm.

Bahrain's state news agency reported that a US Navy logistics facility had been attacked. Bahrain hosts the US Fifth Fleet.

Explosions were also heard in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, according to reports.- Bernama
