There is a poster circulating on WhatsApp, claiming that the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) is offering RM5,000 for the "Entrepreneur Equipment Grant" (Geran Peralatan Usahawan).
Is this a legitimate poster?
VERDICT:

FALSE
The ICU denied that the poster was an official communication material from the department.
Bernama reported that the ICU said on its official Facebook page that the poster was created and distributed by an individual without reference to or verification from the department.
"The information regarding the application method displayed is inaccurate and cannot be used as an official reference. The public is requested not to redistribute the poster.
"Any information related to government assistance, grants or initiatives must be verified through all State ICU JPM Offices as well as the official ICU JPM social media accounts," it said.
Meanwhile, ICU JPM reminded the public that the creation or dissemination of false or misleading content through network facilities may constitute an offence under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588].
If convicted, a person can be fined up to RM500,000 or imprisoned for a term not exceeding two years, or both.
