RECENTLY, it was claimed that two cars were 'speed testing' on a public road in Putrajaya.

The reckless act, as seen in a short video which went viral on social media, showed two yellow cars drag racing with people on the roadside recording the incident.

Did this really happen as claimed?

Verdict:

TRUE

The actions of the two drivers believed to have been testing their speed at Putra Bridge in Putrajaya backfired when they were detained by police.

Putrajaya OCPD Asst Comm Aidi Sham Mohamed said the two men, aged 19 and 21, were detained to assist investigations into the incident.

“Investigations found that the two individuals were at the location to gather and produce content to be uploaded on social media and not for racing.

“Further checks found that the 21-year-old driver did not have a valid driving licence, while the Motor Vehicle Licence for the vehicle he was driving had expired,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sep 10).

ACP Aidi said both drivers were also issued summonses for vehicle modification offences, while the case was being investigated under Section 81 of the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333).

Meanwhile, preliminary urine screening tests on both drivers were negative for drugs.
