QuickCheck: Did thieves pull off an audacious heist of designer handbags in Cyberjaya?

THE SONG from The Beatles goes "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window." But what would a gang of thieves in Cyberjaya have in common with the Fab Four?

Well, it seems the song could have inspired them when they robbed a shop selling designer handbags by doing exactly what the title states – coming in through the bathroom window.

But did such a thing really happen?

Verdict:

TRUE

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman said police are tracking three suspects over a break-in at a luxury handbag outlet in a shopping complex in Cyberjaya, where 25 handbags worth about RM90,000 were stolen.

He said police received a report about the incident at around 12.30pm on Thursday (June 11) from the proprietor.

"Closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage revealed that three masked suspects dressed in black entered the premises before ransacking the outlet and taking handbags displayed on shelves," he said in a statement on Friday (June 12).

Norhizam said checks at the scene found the suspects likely gained entry by prising open a toilet window.

Norhizam said the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which carries a penalty of up to five years' imprisonment and a fine.

He added that the case has gone viral on social media, attracting public attention and police are actively tracking down the suspects and working to recover the stolen items.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the nearest police station or the investigating officer, Sgt Mohd Faizal Rashid @ Jaafar, at 013-222 2652.
