Verdict:

TRUE

Police confirm that a sports car driven by a 61-year-old local woman crashed into the lobby area of a hotel at Persiaran Gurney in George Town on June 7.

Northeast OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rozak Muhammad said police received a report from the woman at 12.05pm.

He said investigations found the crash happened at about 11.15am.

"The incident happened as the senior citizen was preparing to head home after visiting family members. No casualties were reported and the estimated losses are still under investigation," he said in a statement.

ACP Abdul Rozak said the case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987.

Photos of a grey sports Porsche inside a hotel lobby circulated widely online following the incident.
