A VIDEO of several individuals, including one carrying a machete, arguing with residents in a housing area believed to be Taman Medan Jaya, Petaling Jaya, has since gone viral on social media.
The heated confrontation left many online wondering what had set it off.
Was the viral Taman Medan Jaya fight sparked by an electricity cut?
Verdict:

TRUE
The fight stemmed from dissatisfaction over a decision by the housing area's Joint Management Body (JMB) to cut off the electricity supply, said Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar.
Investigations found that the JMB had disconnected electricity running from the residential units to the suspect's business premises, which were believed to be operating illegally, he said.
"The suspect later requested for the supply to be reconnected, but the request was rejected as it violated the rules," said Comm Shazeli, adding that the incident was not racially motivated.
Speaking at a press conference at the Selangor police contingent headquarters in Shah Alam on Wednesday (Oct 14), he said the incident occurred on Oct 9 when the suspect called several friends to confront the JMB and residents of the area.
The housing area, which is equipped with a security gate, prevented the group from entering the premises to carry out an attack.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Shamsudin Mamat had earlier said police received a report at about 1.03am from a local man who claimed he had been attacked by several individuals.
Police also traced the video of the incident that had been circulating on social media, he said.
According to ACP Shamsudin, the incident was believed to have stemmed from a misunderstanding and did not involve any injuries or victims.
Five local men were arrested by Petaling Jaya district police, remanded for a day and released on police bail pending the completion of investigation papers for referral to the Deputy Public Prosecutor, said Comm Shazeli.
