Was a tiger really spotted near Kluang?

Verdict:

TRUE

A tiger was spotted in the undergrowth of a farm in Kampung Rahmat, Kluang, and is believed to have strayed into the area.

A viral video of the big cat prompted public concern and drew the attention of the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan).

Johor Perhilitan director Aminuddin Jamin said his team had conducted an investigation at the location following public complaints and the spread of the viral video.

He said the area had no prior records of tiger activity.

"We do not rule out the possibility that the tiger strayed into this area.

"Perhilitan's preliminary investigation at the location also found that the report received was reasonable," he said when contacted.

He said camera traps had been set up around the area to determine whether the tiger was still present or had returned to its natural habitat.

"In addition, Perhilitan personnel are also conducting monitoring and control in the area and taking the necessary steps to ensure the animal leaves the area," he said.
