A SHOCKING video that went viral on social media shows what appears to be a man running naked on a main road.

The footage, which has been widely shared across various platforms, allegedly captures the incident occurring along Jalan Mengkibol in Kluang.

The video has sparked outrage and concern amongst residents about public decency and safety. But did this really happen in Kluang?

A 50-year-old local man was detained following a public indecency incident that was captured on video and went viral on social media, believed to have occurred on Jalan Mengkibol, Kluang.

Kluang OCPD Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident was reported to have occurred at around 7pm on Tuesday (March 3).

"Acting on information, a team of officers and personnel from the Kluang police station arrested a local man at Taman Sunrise Park at around 4pm on Wednesday," he said in a statement on Thursday (March 5).

"Checks found that the suspect has one previous criminal record, whilst a urine screening test came back negative," he said.

"The case is being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code," he added.

According to Bahrin, a remand application for the suspect will be made on Thursday at the Kluang Magistrate's Court to assist in further investigations.

In this regard, authorities have requested the cooperation of members of the public who have any information related to the incident to contact any nearby station or Kluang District Headquarters at 07-778 4222 or the direct line at 07-778 4256.
