QuickCheck: Is the government offering RM1,500 in cash aid?


PETALING JAYA: With the cost of living still on the rise, news of a supposed upcoming government aid amounting to RM1,500 for the people has gone viral on social media.

Is it true that the government has announced a new cash aid scheme?

Verdict:

False

In an official Facebook post on Jan 12, the Finance Ministry clarified that no such new aid has been announced and that any purported announcements of such schemes are fake news.

“There is no RM1,500 assistance as claimed in viral posts.

“No applications have been opened for housewives, single individuals or single mothers from January 12 to February 27, 2026, as alleged.

“The public is advised not to be easily misled by false information and always refer to official Madani government channels for accurate and up-to-date information,” it said in its post.
