TRAFFIC incidents caught on camera often go viral on social media, especially if the scene depicts something out of the ordinary.

One such video making the rounds shows a tipper truck being driven without lowering its rear section, or "bucket", and crashing into a traffic light pole.

In the viral video, a road user can be seen shouting at the lorry driver before the traffic light pole became entangled with the "bucket." Comments indicated that the incident occurred in Pekan Nenas, near Pontian in Johor.

Is it true a tipper truck damaged a traffic light pole by failing to lower its "bucket"?

VERDICT:

TRUE

Pontian OCPD Supt Hadzrat Hussien Mion Hussain confirmed the incident to Sinar Harian, telling the Malay language daily that the police are aware of it and are tracking down the tipper truck driver for further action.

"Action will be taken due to the damage to public property.

"A case file will be opened under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987," he told Sinar Harian on Monday (Jan 5).

Earlier Monday, a one-minute and 15-second video went viral showing the lorry's "bucket" crashing into a traffic light pole in Pekan Nanas.

In the video, a road user could be seen shouting at the lorry driver before the traffic light pole became entangled with the load.

“Your 'bucket' is up. I told you, your 'bucket' is up, yet you still hit it. What are you seeing? It lowered and pulled the traffic light down.

“It’s really pulled the traffic light down. Now, how am I supposed to pass through here?” the road user was heard saying in the video.

The video also shows a line of vehicles honking and hesitating to overtake the heavy vehicle.

In the comments section, many expressed concern over the situation, noting that it endangered other road users.
